Telephone Tip
Tipsters can anonymously report a crime by calling 515-223-1400, or 800-452-1111. Make sure you get your ID number, from the call center, once they have documented your tip. You will need that to identify yourself if your tip leads to the arrest and conviction of the criminal.

Scholarships

Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa (CSCI) supports students interested in a law enforcement career by offering scholarships to help them achieve their academic goals.  

Four $1000 scholarships are available to seniors who plan to pursue a career in law enforcement.

While becoming a law enforcement professional requires academic credentials, we know other characteristics are equally important: initiative, sense of ethics, respect and knowledge of laws, communication skills, common sense, civility, service mentality, humility, controlled temperament and thirst for knowledge. (Source: Perspective: Characteristics of an Ideal Police Officer — LEB) That's why we ask you to submit an essay on why you are interested in a career in law enforcement along with the application form. 

If you would like to apply for a CSCI scholarship, please do the following: 

1. Fill out the application form. CSCI2026App.docx (See attached)
2. Write a one-page, typed essay describing why you want to pursue a career in law enforcement.
3. Send the application form and essay by email to crimestoppersofcentraliowa@gmail.com or by regular mail to Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa, 5995 NE 14th Street, Des Moines, IA 50313

Applicants will be judged on character, community involvement and essay content.
